Morrison Illinois Adult Driver Education Course Online

If you live in Morrison and are 18, 19, or 20 years old, you may need Illinois' six-hour Adult Driver Education Course before obtaining your first Illinois driver's license.

Morrison is one of Whiteside County's strongest city pages because it is the county seat, contains the main Whiteside County Courthouse, sits along U.S. 30 and Illinois 78, and currently has both a major U.S. 30 planning study and an active local bridge closure.

U.S. 30 Reconstruction Study

IDOT is currently conducting a Phase I engineering and environmental study for more than two miles of U.S. 30 through Morrison.

The study limits run from approximately 0.1 mile west of Illinois 78 to 0.2 mile east of Jackson Street. Proposed improvements include:

Pavement reconstruction

Turn lanes

A bi-directional turn lane

Drainage improvements

Intersection improvements

ADA accommodations

Bicycle and pedestrian improvements.

A public meeting was held July 21, 2026. Phase I is expected to conclude in summer 2027.

This is planning work, not active corridor reconstruction.

Illinois Route 78

Illinois 78 provides Morrison's main north-south state highway connection and intersects the U.S. 30 corridor.

Active Genesee Court/Prairie Center Road Bridge Closure

Whiteside County reports that Genesee Court/Prairie Center Road west of Morrison High School has been closed since June 1, 2026 for removal and replacement of the existing bridge.

This is particularly useful for first-time drivers because it affects school-area route choice and requires use of alternate roads.

Morrison High School

Morrison High School is located at:

643 Genesee Avenue Morrison, IL 61270.

The district also operates:

Morrison Junior High, 300 Academic Drive

Southside School, 100 Academic Drive

Northside School, 520 N. Genesee Street.

This creates several distinct school traffic corridors rather than a single campus.

Whiteside County Courthouse

The main Whiteside County Courthouse is located at:

200 E. Knox Street Morrison, IL 61270.

Downtown drivers should expect court visitors, public parking, pedestrians, and unfamiliar drivers.

Additional Morrison Street Program

Morrison's infrastructure plan identifies South Genesee work in 2026 and a larger list of future street projects, including South Orange, North Jackson, North Genesee, South Jackson, East Main, and West Main.

These should be described according to actual construction status rather than treating every listed project as active.
